Art forgers

I have recently been reading much about art forgeries and famous art forgers. I don't know why but I have come to admire them, perhaps because I have a disdain for pretentious art critics and "experts" who can so easily be fooled. Art forgers are superb artists in their own right but lack an audience - they have not been successful when signing their own work. For financial success, you do not so much need talent but certainly the right connections.

Selling a few more

Since the last time I wrote something here, I have sold a few more paintings - in case you were wondering. They sold for next-to-nothing but I did make a profit of about 5 dollars on each one. I told myself that it was better than nothing. I only sell the stuff I don't like too much. My best stuff I am holding back for when I become famous. If that never happens, I have left instructions to my heirs that they should just burn everything.

New Post

This is a new post but it's minimalist so I am leaving out the paintings.

Almost given up

I am at number 333 - that was the last posted painting. I have about one hundred left but I have almost given up. What's the point of posting if nobody notices? Nobody buys. I know the art work is not that great and there is a lot of art out there to compete against but my paintings are not so bad, especially if they are available for a song. I have a couple of very good ones but I have not posted them yet. Have a nice day.

Quotes

Art, like beauty, is hard to define but we know it when we see it. It is like the makeup of life - purely cosmetic but fulfilling a seemingly necessary purpose. I am going to round up some quotes about art from famous people and post them here. It will help us with our definition.

SILENCE

Since this is meant to be a gallery - such as it is - I have seldom (if ever) made any comments on this blog. I figure the paintings speak for themselves. Tonight, I realized I have actually gotten to about the halfway mark in my development as an artist. I am self taught - you can tell. I can actually go back to page one and see my very first painting. This one is entitled OIL - number 310 from 2008.
