Art For Its Own Sake

I just remembered I had not posted anything here for over a year. I sort of gave up and started concentrating on other things (such as making money to pay the rent on time every month) Maybe I'll post something new here next month - perhaps one of my more recent paintings.

New Post

This is a new post but it's minimalist so I am leaving out the paintings.

Almost given up

I am at number 333 - that was the last posted painting. I have about one hundred left but I have almost given up. What's the point of posting if nobody notices? Nobody buys. I know the art work is not that great and there is a lot of art out there to compete against but my paintings are not so bad, especially if they are available for a song. I have a couple of very good ones but I have not posted them yet. Have a nice day.

Fine, so I'm no good

It's not a bad thing to admit the truth to yourself. Never. If you are not a good artist, just tell yourself that and move on - practice and paint some more. I have only sold three small items in my life, although I have painted over 400 works. My stuff is simply not that good. Period. Am I an unappreciated painter? Nope. I'm just not good. That's all. Period. End of discussion.

Quotes

Art, like beauty, is hard to define but we know it when we see it. It is like the makeup of life - purely cosmetic but fulfilling a seemingly necessary purpose. I am going to round up some quotes about art from famous people and post them here. It will help us with our definition.

Came Art

Not all Came Art is about circles. If you need to know why the circles, I'll tell you. Circles represent two. Two is basic because there is no such thing as one. Perhaps trillions of years ago there might have been one, but not for too long. Two or more is much more interesting. Now you know why the circles, though not all Came Art is about circles. (This is a copy of a previous post. We need to keep things straight.)
